On March 3rd 2015 the Ann Arbor Women’s Group hosted a volunteer sign-up dinner at the Washtenaw Alano Club. The turn out was spectacular, especially considering there was freezing rain until an hour before the event.
We had some amazing volunteers help put this event together and make it happen. The ladies found out a little bit more about what we do at A2WG and Kelly B. and Tahra L. gave us moving testimonials about how A2WG has enhanced their sobriety.
Dinner was delicious and Jessica K. won the grand-prize raffle of a summer weekend recovery retreat ($170 value). 17 ladies signed up to announce and pass out flyers at their meetings and 26 ladies volunteered their future services to coordinate, lead or help at an A2WG event! What amazing, giving women we have in the Ann Arbor recovery community. There are going to be some awesome activities for the 2015-16 year(s).
It’s was a bitterly cold January day on January 10th 2015, with a temperature high of 10 degrees (more like zero with the wind chill factor) but did it stop 12 ladies from coming out for ice cream, fellowship and a movie? Noooo!
These ladies were champions just like the main character in the movie “Broken” that we saw at the Goodrich Quality 16 theater. It might have been cold that day but the fellowship we experienced warmed our hearts.
