Move Through It: Improv Dance
Move Through It is a workshop designed to help you strengthen your Mind/Body Connection. With increased awareness of your body in time and space comes increased self-confidence, creativity and calm. During the workshop you will learn ways to control your breathing, quiet your judgmental mind and regulate your stress level through simple movement exercises. Participants will be encouraged to find their own way of moving, through investigation, observation and PLAY. Activities include a dynamic, low intensity warm up, centering and stretching exercises, a fun group dance experience, and some guided improvisation. No previous dance experience necessary. All activities can be adapted for differently abled participants. Participants should wear comfortable clothes they can move in, with layers, and bring a water bottle. Participants can dance in bare feet or socks or clean dance shoes (not worn outside). Masks are recommended. There will be some time for reflection, so bring a journal if you have one. Paper and pens/pencils will also be available.
