Recovery is a Family Affair!
A home that has a person with a substance use disorder in it can be a destructive environment for children. Alternatively, a home that has a parent in recovery in it can be an exceptionally healthy environment, but many parents can’t get to their vital 12 step meetings due to parental obligations. This can have detrimental consequences.
It’s a frustrating dilemma. You are a better parent when you attend meetings, but you can’t get to meetings because you are a parent.
The Ann Arbor Women’s Group’s free child care program fulfills a crucial need for parents in recovery. Since December 2010 A2WG has provided safe, free childcare while parents attend their 12 step meetings.

Meetings and Times

Ann Arbor Women’s Group is currently happy to be able to offer Free Childcare two nights a week at recovery meetings. Wednesday night you can drop your child off in the nursery on the first floor and attend A Vision For You (an AA meeting) or Just for Today (an Al-Anon meeting) which take place at 7:30 pm at Zion Lutheran Church (1501 W. Liberty St, Ann Arbor, MI 48103). On Saturday night, childcare is provided during S.N.O.W (an AA meeting) which takes place at 7:30 pm at 242 Church (638 S. Wagner Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48103). You can drop your child off in the enclosed play area with the slides.
Childcare Policies
Childcare is for children 6 months – 11 years old. We are not responsible for children over 11 years old and church policy requires children that are on the premises to have an adult with them.
A child/parent info card must be filled out the first time a child is dropped off at a location.
Children must be signed in with a staff member when they are dropped off and picked up, by the same parent.
All necessary items such as diapers and bottles need to be left with a Childcare employee.

Child Care Champions
$10 a month supports two weeks of free child care. Please consider becoming a “Child Care Champion” and giving a parent in recovery the gift of being able to attend their 12 step meetings while their child is safely watched by the A2WG child care staff.
